Well Arizona is a desert! And that it was. Although it is interesting to meet the people and see those who want to force it to be what they are comfortable with, and those who understand that this is the desert and learn to live with that in mind.

The Saguaro cactus was amazing, especially when you see it in the context of it being a forest. I took pics of it, but they didnt really look like anything. You have to see it in person. Really cool.

There was interesting details around the city. Much of the better design and more interesting things in this desert world, were the things that embraced the idea of living in the desert.I thought this bus stand, though shot from my car window, was an interesting element.

And then off to New Orleans! What an amazing city!
This is the hotel i stayed at with two friends right in The French Quarter. An amazing flash back in time, or a hold over maybe? The economy there is still desperately in need. I didnt actually see any of the destruction which is still a mess, but much of the cities infastructure is still seriously damamged. One night in the garden district, when we were headed back to The French Quarter, the power went out. We were told it happens a lot. Power relays are being repaired as fast as possible but there is still too much water damage to keep ahead of it and parts of the city go down now and then. Transportation is seriously lacking there too. But it is so amazing, and you should go and enjoy, and support them! They need the tourist to return! They really do! |

Here is a gate in the front of Congo Park. It is said to be the birthplace of Jazz.
You cant really make it out completely in the photo, but it says Armstrong on the inside of the arch. |
